Groton Long Point is a peninsula jutting into Long Island Sound, from the southern coastline of the town of Groton. The area offers waterviews over marshlands, Mumford Cove and Long Island Sound, sprawling beaches, a 1/2 mile-long waterfront pedestrian walkway, and a protected lagoon, Venetian Harbor, which serves as the community marina and anchorage.
The association of Groton Long Point was established in 1921 as a municipal corporation within the town of Groton.
Originally a summer vacation area, many of the original homes have been winterized or rebuilt altogether, to accommodate year-round living.
While it is a gorgeous place to live any time of year, this community really comes alive in the summer.
The “Casino” is the focal point of the association, housing a small restaurant, function room, post office, store and the Groton Long Point Yacht Club. Throughout the summer the Casino plays host to social functions for both children and adults.
The Groton Long Point Yacht Club organizes educational and competitive programs in sailing, swimming, tennis and sports for both children and adults. Social events are also arranged throughout the Summer. For more information on Yacht Club sport and social programs, visit its website here.
